Set above the future upgrade of the St Leonards train station and bus-rail interchange, Arcadia’s landscape concept for this development, featuring two residential towers of 47 and 26 storeys, as well as a 15-storey commercial and retail building fronting the Pacific Highway, is based on connecting the green corridors of bushland which connect the CBD of St Leonards to Sydney Harbour. The open space at Eighty Eight will draw upon the site’s history, geology and biology to create a responsive landscape that reflects the local climate, character, identity and sense of place while supporting compact, accessible, active and healthy communities.
The site’s public plaza will provide significant open space amenity with retail activation, passive recreation space, an events hub, play area, alfresco dining space and linkage to a proposed new park above the railway line, adjacent to the 88 Christie site. There will be a new subterranean link below Pacific Highway to the existing station, enabling major public realm circulation through the site, with enhanced connections to Friedlander Place, bus interchange and the residential zones south of the Pacific Highway.
