Ramsgate Park Playground

Arcadia Landscape Architecture has collaborated with Tilt Industrial Design to deliver the new Ramsgate Park playground, re-imagined on the former Darrell Lea Confectionery Factory site which has been transformed into a new residential master planned community, Ramsgate Park.

The playground is the highlight of the open space with many interpretive elements inspired by the Darrell Lea product line, providing an educational narrative and bespoke play equipment. A flexible, simple and intuitive, equitable play space for all ages Arcadia has designed the playground to connect people back to the original site, allowing everyone to belong, play and learn. The result is an inclusive play space for all ages, using colour, materials and elements to create adventure, excitement and interest for the immediate and wider community.

The interpretive elements include the Liquorice Line play structure with swings and climbing elements, the All Sorts Cubes with a slide and fireman’s pole and candy store. The colour palette was strictly colours that are from the Darrell Lea confectionary line and other elements were designed in line with the narrative. With Darrell Lea such an iconic memory for the Kogarah community, using this narrative to educate and pay respect is an important education tool for youngsters.
