To accompany the significant upgrade for the buildings and grounds of Picton High School, Arcadia designed a landscape to provide engaging learning environments, promote positive social outcomes and a focus on sustainability.
The consolidated central built form allows for direct physical and visual access to all key open spaces from the school hub. The design of the open spaces reinforce this social permeability, ensuring that students feel part of a shared community.
Drawing on the school’s natural heritage, the tree-lined native buffer has been extended into the fabric and identity of the school. Clear sightlines through to this green backdrop are prioritised and new pathways provided to give students access to natural landscape amenity. Sustainability has become a defining feature of the school identity, expressing itself through the use of WSUD elements throughout the campus.
