The upgrade to the station and pedestrian linkage at Arncliffe Station was undertaken for The Transport Access Program, a Transport NSW initiative to provide a better experience for public transport customers by delivering accessible, modern, secure and integrated transport infrastructure. Completed in 2016, Arcadia collaborated with the team to provide a new pedestrian link underneath the rail line, bewteen Arncliffe Street and Wollongong Street. The pedestrian link will help to improve safety and connectivity to public transport, shops and schools. Maximum use of natural lighting has been incorporated into the design and safety features such as CCTV surveillance and LED quality lighting has been installed.
The station upgrade also included new canopies on the footbridge and platforms, new sheltered bus stops, taxi rank and kiss and ride area along Firth Street, two new accessible parking spaces within the existing car park off Burrows Street, upgraded stairs and wayfinding signage, and new bicycle racks.
