The design of this large, sloping greenfield site at the University of Western Sydney Werrington campus was approached with sensitivity by Arcadia. The key principles revolved around integration of the built form into the landscape. Hydrology was integral with a fully connected WSUD strategy developed in conjunction with Enstruct Engineers. This has resulted in the provision of a functioning bio-retention basin that acts as a visual focus for the building and the outdoor spaces that also attain physical water access. Lines in the landscape are derived from the strong building angles, with spaces provided for microclimatic benefit. Defined garden bed and maintenance zones will provide ongoing benefits for staff.
