Trinity Point

Working in collaboration with Koichi Takada, Arcadia has designed a landscape concept for Trinity Point, a masterplanned community to be set on 23 hectares of land at the end of the natural peninsula with access to Lake Macquarie on three sides.

The landscape will complement the architectural design of the apartment buildings, creating a destination with waterfront activities, high-end restaurant, luxury five-star hotel and vibrant retail and dining precinct. The thoughtful blending of spaces creates an inviting atmosphere where tourists, locals, and residents can freely access the grounds, enjoying both the stunning landscape and a wide range of amenities.

Early in the design process, local Awabakal Indigenous leaders were engaged in a series of workshops, which included guided discussion on heritage, culture and Connection with Country. To celebrate place and Country, the landscape has been designed to frame views to the Watagan Mountains to the west of Lake Macquarie. A series of interconnected ridgelines, with outcropping sandstone were known to have provided shelter and hunting territory through the winter months for the Awabakal as part of a spiritual and cultural connection to the land and waters.

The connection to lake and mountains will be evident in the planting and materiality, wayfinding and signage, with viewing decks and lookouts scattered throughout.

Trinity Point’s design incorporates cutting-edge ESD solutions, with the goal of creating one of the most sustainable hotel and residential developments in New South Wales. The addition of green roofs helps regulate building temperatures throughout the year, reducing reliance on air conditioning for both residents and guests. The expansive landscaping also plays a key role in reducing urban heat, fostering a healthier environment for all who live and stay there.

The waterfront experience for the five star hotel, includes timber decking, event space and bar, feature planting and art strategy with a resort-style pool including splash play for children.
