Sydney Swans Headquarters and Community Centre

Arcadia worked with Populous for the detailed design and delivery of the new Sydney Swans HQ.

This included a landscape masterplan for the adaptive re-use of the Royal Hall of Industries building, for use as a multi-purpose space capable of hosting a variety of different sporting events.

With the Swans HQ located in a new multi-storey building that adjoins the Hall, the landscape design includes two terraces for use by the AFL mens and womens teams. An activated green laneway between the two buildings allows for access to nature, as well as providing a breakout landscape space.

The landscape design has focused on the user experience encountered in the space. Through the built forms, spaces of enclosure and openness are apparent. The open landscape is designed for communal use, with the urban character of the space providing functionality and interest. As a public space this facilitates a variety of users through usable flexible space.
