Arcadia collaborated with Hassell, REX and Richards & Spence, for this award-winning public realm and commercial project in Brisbane.

The design of this building has prioritised people’s wellness, community connection and climate responsive design.  With landscaped spaces across all levels of the building, including a naturally ventilated public plaza that opens the tower up to the wider city, a restaurant precinct, a dedicated Wellness level, sky terraces and a rooftop collaboration terrace, everyone has the opportunity to step outside into an open-air landscaped environment.

The concept of the building architecture is intimately tied to its place, with its location on the Brisbane River, views to Mount Coo-tha and the subtropical climate of Brisbane. To complement this Arcadia utilised a local context planting palette with predominately endemic species, inspired by the river’s edge, as well as the vegetative strata layers of elevated local landscapes like Mount Coo-tha.

This building represents excellence in sub-tropical architecture, drawing inspiration from the traditional Queensland shade house: featuring abundant greenery, shaded outdoor terraces and a naturally ventilated plaza. The result is a building that does truly breathe, showcasing how the alignment of architecture and landscape architecture can foster vibrant, healthy and connected urban life suited to Brisbane’s climate.
