Arcadia is announcing the promotion of eight people across the practice, including Jason Kocmar to Principal in Canberra, Jack Stevenson to Principal in Newcastle and Daniel Spicer to Senior Associate in Sydney.
“At Arcadia we know that our people are motivated by the opportunity to make a difference through their work as well as the prospects we offer for career advancement. We are delighted to recognise outstanding performance and leadership of these individuals, who have demonstrated dedication to Arcadia’s vision through driving success, embodying our cultural values, and consistently enabling their teams to deliver outstanding designs,” says Alex Longley, Founding Director, Arcadia.
Arcadia’s studios in Canberra and Newcastle are experiencing an increased demand for high-quality and contemporary landscape architecture and urban design with more families leaving the state capitals and a generational expectation for healthy, accessible outdoor community spaces.
“With demonstrated expertise, leadership and project stewardship, Jason Kocmar and Jack Stevenson are both recognised as dedicated contributors to the built environment in their local markets, understanding both the needs of our clients and the current and future needs of the communities who will be using the spaces that Arcadia designs. We are excited by additional unique skillsets and perspective they will bring to the broader Principal group,” says Longley.
“Jack Wilkins from Canberra and Cody Hooper from Newcastle have both been promoted to Senior Landscape Architect in recognition of the advancements they have made in their design skills, project complexity and leadership, as well as for the collaborative contributions they make to the culture of their studio environments.”
In the Sydney studio, Daniel Spicer is now a Senior Associate, Han Chen is moving to Associate, Rafi Grant is a Senior Landscape Architect and Elaine Wang is a Senior Urban Designer.
“We are delighted to acknowledge one of our long-term team members, Daniel Spicer, whose contribution to Arcadia is evident through the design excellence of his award-winning work, including Wadanggari Park and Friedlander Place, and the impact he has on our culture. Having first joined Arcadia in 2016 as a Graduate Landscape Architect, Daniel took time working away from Arcadia but returned in 2023 after recognising our shared values and the opportunity to advance his career,” says Longley.
“The other promotions in our Sydney studio reflect the innovative design thinking being applied by Han, Rafi and Elaine to resolve complex issues resulting in exceptional outcomes across our landscape architecture and urban design projects.”
Arcadia congratulates everyone who has been recognised with a promotion this year and looks forward to seeing everyone thrive in their new roles, as we work to create landscapes that transform lives and communities, delivering meaningful, sustainable spaces that resonate deeply with their inhabitants.
