Shout Ridge

Located on the edge of Lane Cove National Park, Shout Ridge was the first Australian project to be awarded a 6 Star Green Star – Multi Unit Residential Design v1 Certified Rating by the Green Building Council of Australia.

Shout Ridge is a residential development in the Defence Housing Australia (DHA) Crimson Hill precinct at Lindfield, comprising of 88 apartments in two buildings.

From the outset, sustainability was a priority for DHA, and the design team including Architectus, Cundall, SCP Consulting and TSA, worked closely together throughout the whole design process to create a world-leading environmentally sustainable design.

With sustainability a priority for Shout Ridge, more than 25 per cent of the total site area has been developed for outdoor communal use capitalising on its Lane Cove National Park setting. The bushland location presented unique opportunities and constraints for the landscape design approach, which has integrated these iconic elements to protect and enhance the site character.

Arcadia’s designs for Shout Ridge respond to and respect the ancient landscape of the Lane Cove National Park. The native setting provides an existing set of environs that allowed Arcadia to weave carefully selected materials and elements to ensure the natural landscape feels like it creeps right up the building edge, while providing separation and privacy from a user’s perspective.

Filtered views from the apartments at Shout Ridge are dominated by the trunk effects of the Angophora dominant upper-slope shrubland adjacent to the site, and the use of timber provides a cohesive design element that connects the various spaces of the landscape.
