Habitat House is a former fashion warehouse in Surry Hills, set to become a premium commercial space on the city-fringe, designed with a focus on well-being and collaboration.
Arcadia’s design for the communal rooftop space provides a green oasis where people can re-energise their minds and connect with others.
Using ultra-luxe, contemporary materials and finishes, the space includes an outdoor kitchen and bar, a breeze-block feature acoustic wall, a range of seating amenity, a yoga deck and lounge areas.
The approach tackled challenges around structural capacity with a steel subframe built on building columns. This allowed for integration of mature trees and substantial areas of raised garden bed, creating a series of rooms for both commercial and recreational uses. A steel and tensioned wire trellis hovers above the space for a variety of climbers to colonise, creating desirable microclimates for work and play.
