Arcadia’s principals, Alex Longley and Michael Barnett, recently attended a special ceremony at UNSW to present the 2017 Built Environment Arcadia Landscape Architecture Award for Indigenous Students to the first ever recipient of the award, Dylan Taylor.
Announced in 2016, Arcadia worked closely with UNSW Built Environment to establish the award, with the goal to overcome the shortage of indigenous consultants in the landscape architecture industry.
“We were thrilled to present Dylan with the Arcadia scholarship; he really impressed us with his submission,” said Alex. “We’re looking forward to hearing how Dylan progresses, not only in the development of his professional skills, but also in any influence and insights he can bring to his coursework.”
The ceremony celebrated nearly 100 Built Environment students who excelled at their studies or were awarded scholarships for the 2017 academic year. The presentation of the Arcadia Award was a definite highlight, with the room “exploding” with excitement when it was announced.
